Ambuja, a major cement producing company in Himachal Pradesh, has been fined by the Pollution Control Board for violating environmental norms. Environmental parameters were being continuously violated in Ambuja Company’s plant located in Rauri, due to which the Pollution Control Board has imposed a fine of Rs 6 lakh 60 thousand on the company. The main plant of the cement company is in Darlaghat, but one of its units is located at a place called Rauri. This unit was causing environmental pollution, which was assessed on December 10, 2024. After this, Pollution Control Board teams kept coming here for investigation, but the situation did not improve. On this, the regional officers of the Pollution Control Board also issued notices to them and asked them to repair the related equipment. Despite this, those equipment could not be repaired and the environment continued to be damaged. When proper steps were not taken even after repeated notices, the matter was sent to the office of Member Secretary, Pollution Control Board, from where orders have been issued to impose fine on Ambuja Company. Taking cognizance of not fulfilling the pollution control standards and not taking action despite repeated notices, Board Member Secretary Anil Joshi has imposed this fine on the cement company and has asked to take action with immediate effect
