Two youths died after a pickup jeep met with an accident on Paonta Rohru National Highway 707 under Sirmaur district. Both the youths who were victims of the accident were residents of Shillai area. The police, along with the local people, pulled out the dead bodies from the ditch with great difficulty. Paonta DSP Manvendra Thakur said that late on Saturday night, the pickup driver Guru (28), son of Atar Singh, resident of village Erana, Post Office Balikoti, Tehsil Shillai, along with his friend Mukesh (22), son of Kedar Singh, resident of village Butiana, Post Office Gwali, Tehsil Shillai, were in the pickup. I was coming from Shilai towards Paonta Sahib with a mixer machineWas.Meanwhile, Jif went out of control near Barwas and fell into a deep ditch. No one came to know about the accident at night. At around 12 noon on Sunday afternoon, when a person from Barwas went to the forest to collect grass for the animals, he saw that a car had fallen into the ditch. When he went closer and saw a dead body lying under the debris in a deep ditch, he informed the villagers and the police. As soon as the information was received, some youth from Sataun and the police team reached the spot. It was becoming difficult to get into the ditch on the spot. The youth of Barwas and Sataun along with the police reached the dead body by placing a rope across the ditch. The rescue operation went on in the ditch for about 4 hours and at about 4 o’clock both the bodies were taken to the main road with the help of a rope, after which with the help of 108 ambulance, both the bodies were brought to Civil Hospital Paonta Sahib for post-mortem. DSP Manvendra Thakur said that the police has registered a case.
