Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has appealed to the resourceful people of the state to give up electricity subsidy in view of the economic condition of the state. Following this, senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar has decided to give up the subsidy on electricity on this appeal. Along with this, Shanta has also given some suggestions to the Chief Minister. According to Shanta Kumar, to deal with the economic situation of the state, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has appealed that the rich people of the state should themselves give up electricity subsidy. On his request, some ministers and MLAs have announced to give up subsidy. I have also decided to give up subsidy and have also given some suggestions to the CM. Shanta Kumar has suggested that the poor BPL families of the state should continue to get subsidy as before. Subsidy from all others should be reduced by 50 percent. There will be very few people who will give up the subsidy themselves but the government will get more income due to reducing the subsidy by 50 percent. There is a lot of opportunity for savings in non-plan expenditure of the government. The Chief Minister should order that all departments reduce non-plan expenditure by 10 percent. In this way the government will get more benefits. Form a committee of experts to increase the financial resources of the government. He should think seriously and give suggestions to the government to increase economic resources.
